Deputy Governor lifts Nasarawa United with 500,000 Naira after Bayelsa United win
Nasarawa United have been rewarded with a sum of 500,000 Naira for their latest away win in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) after the state Deputy Governor, Honourable Silas Agara confirmed the payment of the lump sum to the Solid Miners due to their 2-1 away win against Bayelsa United in a Week 33 tie played last Sunday in Oghara.
He said he decided to financially motivate the team for their away win over Bayelsa United because of the heroics of the Kabiru Suleiman Dogo-led Nasarawa United who has guided the Lafia side to three solid away wins against Kano Pillars, Sunshine Stars and Bayelsa United in Kano, Akure and Oghara respectively.
“I have ordered the payment of the N500,000 I promised the team if they beat Bayelsa United because they impressed me with their performance since the start of the second round of the league when Kabiru Dogo replaced Mohammed Babaganaru who returned to Kano Pillars. We provided the enabling environment for him and we are not surprised that the team is doing well presently," Honourable Agara said.
“We in Nasarawa State will like the team to keep their heads so that we can achieve our objective of getting a continental ticket at the end of the season. We have a tough game against Enyimba and we are hoping that the club will deliver the three points because we have not failed to beat them at home in all our previous matches with them.”
Honourable Agara noted that with only five matches to the end of the season, Nasarawa United need the support of all and sundry to ensure that the club does not falter in the remaining league matches especially in the next home game against Enyimba which he opined the team must be determined to win to increase their chances of ending the season in the top three.
The Nasarawa State number two politician applauded the significant contributions of the interim coach, Dogo highlighting that the confidence reposed in the technical crew headed by the former ABS coach has not been defeated at all.
Nasarawa United are sixth on the log with 52 points from 33 matches.
