VISA IMBROGLIO: Belgium Denies Home Eagles Visas For DR Congo, Cameroon games
The six home-based Super Eagles players and their officials failed to travel to Belgium on Monday as planned as they are yet to receive entry visas into the European country.
The players and their coaches were originally scheduled to leave Nigeria on Sunday to join their foreign-based counterparts in camp in preparation for the friendly games against DR Congo and Cameroon.
But they failed to secure visas to Belgium on Friday and were also not successful on Monday.
One of the players who pleaded anonymity stated that they were still in Nigeria as at 09.30am tuesday morning, but are still hopeful the issue will be sorted out so that they can travel later on tuesday.
“We are yet to get our visas and, we are hoping things will be sorted out so that we can travel on tuesday.”
The Super Eagles will take on Congo Democratic Republic on Thursday in Vise, Liege, before facing perenial rivals Cameroon on Sunday in Dendermonde.
