Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma is expected to be out for six months with injury, the club has confirmed.
The French centre-back fell awkwardly and howled in pain before being stretchered off during the Premier League clash with Manchester United on Sunday.
“Chelsea Football Club’s medical team have diagnosed that Kurt Zouma sustained an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament during sunday's Premier League game against Manchester United,” Chelsea’s website announced on Monday.
“Kurt will undergo surgery in the next 48 hours and is expected to be out for approximately six months.”
The injury not only rules Zouma out till the end of the season, he will also miss France’s campaign at the 2016 European Championship, which they are hosting.
